March with Green Columbus for Stonewall Columbus Pride
March with us, United in Power! For participants, it typically takes about 60-75 minutes to travel the approximate 2 mile-route from formation to dispersal. This year, the March will kick off at 10:30 AM near the intersection of High St. and Broad St. Lineup starts as early as 7am, so please be prepared for a long morning, and have fun. We encourage you to plan for food, water, sunscreen, and other necessities. We will reach out with the exact meeting time and location the week before the March!

Green Columbus is collaborating with Solar United Neighbors on Monday June 16th at North Parsons Brewery for this month’s Green Drinks! Solar United Neighbors will discuss the Switch Together Campaign and answer any questions from attendees.

Green Columbus Science Sunday
Science Sundays at Blacklick Metro Park will be taking place one Sunday a month and will feature a different topic and host each month. The program is led and orchestrated by the Blacklick Woods Metro Park Naturalists. In September, Green Columbus will be hosting! Come on out!
Green Columbus Litter League
Come join Green Columbus this Sunday June 8th at 10 AM at the Linden Tree Nursery to kick off trash collection for Keep Columbus Beautiful Litter League. The competition starts on June 1st and goes until August 31st 2025. For each bag of litter collected, Green Columbus will receive a point. To collect as many points as possible, Green Columbus will have reoccurring Litter League trash pick up events. 20 volunteer spots are available and supplies will be provided. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.

We will need help planting trees, organizing rows, marking pots, placing stakes, and getting the nursery ready for the growing season. Bring your friends! We need all the help we can get to prepare 3,000 trees for our fall giveaway. Green Columbus would not be able to give away free trees each year without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Come out for the morning and enjoy the outdoors with us!

Earth Day Electronics Recycling Event
In partnership with Columbus MicroSystems, we will be hosting a FREE electronics recycling drive at Earth Day this year. While Earth Day takes place from 11-7pm, the drive will occur only from 12pm-3pm.
All electronics except kitchen supplies (refrigerators, freezers, ovens, microwaves etc.) are accepted. TVs will be accepted for a fee ranging from $15 - $35.
LCD TV monitor: $15
CRT TV 0-20”: $25
CRT TV 21-35”: $35
Columbus Micro Systems is an R2v3 and RIOS certified company. The R2v3 Standard provides specific guidelines for data sanitization using physical destruction and logical sanitization (data erasure) methods. All data is erased on the premises with security coverage.

Wreath Recycling Volunteering
We are looking at a wreath cleanup event on Saturday, January 11, 2025. 10:00am-12:00pm.
Volunteers are needed to help disassemble the wreaths at Green Lawn Cemetery so the evergreens can be mulched and metal wreath frames recycled. Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing to stay warm. Work gloves will be provided.
850 Remembrance Wreaths were recently placed on the graves of Veterans in Section 71 of Green Lawn Cemetery. The annual Wreaths Across America event occurs every December and has become a tradition that honors & remembers those who served our country.
Meet Location: Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, OH 43223. Drive through the cemetery gate at the west end of Greenlawn Avenue, drive around the historic traffic circle and meet at the stone office building on your right. After a brief orientation we will caravan together back to Section 71.
Opened in 1849, Green Lawn Cemetery is Ohio's second largest cemetery spanning 325 acres. We are a registered arboretum featuring remnants of native, mixed oak forest with trees 200-300 years old. We are also a part of the Scioto River- Greenlawn Important Bird Area.

Scioto Sweep
Join us on Sunday, September 15th to clean up the Scioto River at the annual Scioto Sweep! We will have all the supplies you need including gloves, trash bags, and litter grabbers thanks to Keep Columbus Beautiful. There will be 3 different groups starting at various locations. The cleanup locations are Scioto Audubon Metro Park, Confluence Park, and the boat ramp. Note the starting address when you choose a shift! Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes. You may also want long pants if you plan to walk into the brush.
This event is in collaboration with Scioto Fest and Columbus Metro Parks.
Donuts and coffee will be available to enjoy at all sites during registration beginning at 9am
Safety:
Trash pickup safety: Do not pick up needles. Alert the site host right away if you find one. Do not pick up trash that is over 20 pounds. Do not pick up sharp objects and place them in a bag with the other trash, will rip bags and put all the waste picked up back in the ground/river. Avoid picking up leaky batteries or chemical/toxic contaminants. Again, notify team leads.
From the River safety Page 13, American Rivers Cleanups: Be aware of slipping hazards, rocks sticks logs and even sand can be very slippery in waterways. You may step on trash that incidentally causes a fall. Watch where you place your feet and be careful when walking.

Iuka & Waldeck Pocket Park
Help build a pocket park in University District! There are volunteer days throughout June. Volunteers are needed to help create paths, plant native grasses, prepare and build raised beds, sand, prep, and paint benches, and install footings for saucer swings.

SWACO Eclipse Glasses Sorting Party
Help sort through the solar eclipse glasses that were donated by the Columbus community to be used again! The glasses must be vetted and packed for shipment to Chile, so children can safely view their eclipse this fall.
