Litter League Cleanups
Green Columbus will be participating as a team in The Columbus Litter League! This is a volunteer activity involving litter cleanups along public roads, streets, and alleys. We will be cleaning up the South Linden area where our community tree nursery is located! Safety vests, gloves, and litter grabbers will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
*Cleanups may be canceled or rescheduled due to inclement weather, such as extreme heat or rain
All participants must sign a liability waiver.
After each cleanup, we will report our stats for that day. In the scoring system, one bag of litter collected equals one 'run'. The teams with the most 'runs' at the end of the season will win their division. The winner with the most runs will have an opportunity to meet Clippers Players at Huntington Park. Thanks to the support of the Columbus Clippers, every team player who actively participates will be invited to enjoy special Litter League team nights at designated home Clippers' games this summer. The Litter League season runs from June 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026.

Hilltop YMCA Tree Planting
The Hilltop YMCA received a generous Columbus Tree Assistance Program (TAP) Grant from Franklin Soil and Water to plant 51 Ohio native trees on our property this fall. In addition, the Ohio Hispanic Coalition received additional funding from the Ohio Youth Climate Action Fund to purchase additional trees for this project!
This project is part of a larger multi-organization plan to revitalize a block of properties in the Valleyview neighborhood. The goal is to provide much needed shade in the area, which will allow for more comfortable outdoor recreation, education, and other activities for YMCA members and community residents. Increasing the canopy at the Hilltop YMCA is in alignment with the City of Columbus' Urban Forestry Master Plan, which will help reduce urban heat island effects, reduce runoff, increase air quality, and beautify the space. In addition, this planting will also provide much needed food and habitat for wildlife that migrates along the neighboring Dry Run Stream corridor.
Join us! Our goal is to have all of the holes dug and you get to do the fun part - place a tree into each hole, fill with soil, mulch, and stake.
Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes
Shovels, light gloves, and other equipment will be provided
